Some (Pink) Days Are Better Than Others

I'm a little late getting my pink post started this morning but I'm not going to let it dampen my pink spirit today... after all some pink days are better than others and I found a lot of things these past few weeks in our favorite color!

Sweet ballet prints... the little ballerina in my house (Dear Bebe, yes she has already started doing some dancing!) almost had these hanging in her room.

It takes much will power to not keep everything.

But the artwork on the front was so lovely...

I loved how patriotic it is with "The Twins" holding the American flag.


Cute little creamer with a great pink floral transfer.

Here I put together a trio of vintage items.

The pink rose postcard of course, is my favorite.

I just know ya'all understand that when I see Burgundy it really

appears as PINK in my head.
The color plates in this copy of Alice are stunning. Again, I had visions of cutting them out and framing them for Dear Bebe's room but I couldn't take scissor to the book.

And speaking of great color... look at this pair of rose paintings. PINK!

What more could I have asked for when I found these?

The canvas is wrapped around a 2" thick wooden frame.

I had just seen these in one of the magazine's recently ...

I remember playing with them when I was a little girl.

These are possibly even older than I am.

Victorian china never loses its appeal with me.

Anything that withstood the test of time while

being breakable finds a soft spot in my heart.

Plus, the little petite pink roses give it the extra..... "awwwwwww!"

Vintage Japanese lanterns.

These are smaller than the others I listed a few weeks ago. They would look cute together, strung every other one, with little twinkle lights for a summer time party.

This pink rose dish has me intriqued this week. It is shaped like a bone dish but it's size tells me it is not exactly a bone dish. Much larger at 9 inches long and 5 inches wide. The back stamp reads "France" and another stamp shows where it was purchased, 5th Ave, New York!

With all of this pink goodness I am certainly tickled this week. I hope you were too!

Alice Went Hippity Hop In (My) Wonderland

Yes, yes she did. Right into my shopping basket.

I love looking for old books. Kind of like how the hunter seeks out his prey, I spy for antique books. I guess you could say it is my kind of Wonderland!

And when I find them I clutch them as closely as possible as though I've just found an ancient treasure map. That's what I did when I saw this old Alice in Wonderland book. I'm guessing it is from somewhere between 1910 - 1920's.

So that makes this one is pretty darn old, showing some wear...

But some of the color plates inside are FABULOUS! (Illustrated by John Tenniel) The things a crafter could make with them are just too many to mention. I was tempted to cut them out of the book to frame and place in Dear Bebe's room in a few years.

I just couldn't do it.

So now it is available in the Bella Rosa Shop , just for you!

Making a Spectacle

Recently I came across antique glasses while hunting down inventory. The frame is a lovely gold color. ( I'll have to get out my magnifying glass and look for a gold stamp.)

Today I am making a spectacle out of them.

Perfect with a stack of books, a favorite vignette of mine. Not just any book of course. How about any OLD book? Or three!


The glasses and books will be available on my site very soon. Plus a few other finds that didn't quite make the last listing. Last that is, but not least!

First Car

Remember your first car? Mine was a red Ford Escort. It was better left by the side of the road where it usually ended up!

Here Dear Bebe has her first car. A red Radio Flyer! Dear Hubs loves the vintage look which reminded him of the old time red wagons.

I'm still trying to teach her how to "push with her feet!" Hopefully she won't have to do that to her REAL first car.

And while the car is red, Dear Bebe is wearing pink. (As usual, would I have her wear anything else?)

One Woman's Treasure: How do you know what to buy?

Is it junk? Or is it treasure?

Determining this can be fun or it can be frustrating.



My biggest rule of thumb, which I don't always remember to abide by is, if I'm not happy with keeping it when it doesn't sell, then I shouldn't buy it.




Most of the time I just try to keep it fun. When I saw these old wooden letters they spelled fun to me!

I've discovered Asian themed items are not a hot seller. Then again, I must confess, I did not buy this oriental themed mirror. Dear Hubs brought it home. I do think it is very pretty! I love the ornate design at the top of the handle.

This was another item I thought was really neat (and old) but it has not sold. An old "Laundry Account" pin cushion. I guess it was used to keep track of shirts, pants, etc.

Now this...THIS I wish I had ten more of. A Souvenir of France silk apron from the war era. Gorgeous! It sold so fast I didn't even get to enjoy it for awhile. Maybe I'll come across another in my travels.


Like this little souvenir cutie from Paris. Definitely a treasure. But I didn't have to go all the way to Paris to find it. It was right here in the county we live in. I wonder who originally owned it and what they thought of France. Many items were brought back by soldiers after the war.

Maybe the question shouldn't be.... "how do you know what to buy" but rather "how do you know what to keep?"

This is my favorite piece ... silk embroidered Souvenir of France material (scarf, hankie, or pillow cover?) under a glass topped serving tray.

A cottage scene print under glass makes the lid to this sweet wooden jewelry box.

Two fleur di lis magnets.... they have a back magnet as well for decorating your curtains! (I found them in a box of curtain hardware)


Vintage party horns... made in Japan. Mouthpieces are made of wood, so you know they are old!

Love this little "pin money" bank. Rhinestones, too!

Big Girl Chair

It's the excitement of such simple things that light up a child's face. Dear Bebe was especially thrilled to be allowed to sit in a "big person chair" for breakfast the other day.
