Monster High and Vampire Villas: Morbid toys put out by stores like Kohl's, Costco, Kmart, and Target

Have you seen the
toys being sold for
young girls
in stores like
Costco, Kohl's,
K-Mart
and Target?

As you can see,
today's post
is not going to
be about antiques.

I'm also a Mom
and I'm not
going to remain quiet
any longer.

The Christmas season is
just around the corner
and the toys being
marketed to young
girls are downright scary.

Literally!
No joke.

They are given
titles like
Monster High
"Die-Ner"

Like diner.

Get it?

Look!

Funny huh?

This one is called
Monster High
Scarily Ever After
Frankie Stein doll.

This is an actual photo
I took while shopping
in Costco.

This "Vampire Villa"
dollhouse is shaped
like a coffin!

The doll furniture is
decorated with skulls
and crossbones!!!!
The doll coffee table
is in the shape of a
coffin too.

They are charging you $84.99
for this dollhouse which will,
in my opinion, lead to many
years of costly therapy for
your precious little one when
she grows up!

Don't get me wrong. I'm not
a fuddy duddy. I watched the
Munsters while growing up.

But where oh where does
this toy go next when your
daughter is a little bit older.

What does she like then?

What clothes or accessories
 will she buy?

Nothing that looks like
Gidget, that's for sure.

I'm a Mom and I'm
not going to take it
anymore!

The world is scary
enough for these
kids....

Writing letters and
making phone calls.
Yep.

I'm letting my voice be heard.
It's my job as a Mom!

Judging Antique Books By Their Cover

They always said

"Don't judge a book
by it's cover"

But in this case, I do.

If I find a book from
 the late 1800's
or early 1900's and
it has a decorative cover

Then I most certainly
will bring it home.

The hubby knows my

magic price. Sometimes
we find beautiful books
for around five. And then
there are times
when I break my own
rules...because I can't
pass it up!

I like to arrange them by

titles...whether they are
old classics, poetry, etc.

I have managed to collect
so many that some of the books
have the same publisher
which will often show the
same artwork on the spine,
as in the case with the
two teal colored books above.

Some are worn and shabby but
were once beautiful in their prime.

This is one of my favorite
collections, besides my
pastel colored dinnerware,
LuRay.

What do you like to collect?

I do have a category
in my Bella Rosa shop
just for vintage books,

Enjoy the day!

To Every Season Turn, Turn, Turn

Each season has it's very own time
Unique treasures to cherish.

They can't be bought
in a store.

Just seen by the eye

Smelled by the nose

Or crackle under your feet.

Taking in every bit
of it that I can...
pretty soon even
this season will be
GONE.

Kind of like how
fast little ones grow....

Enjoy every moment!

Make some chili...
Play in the leaves...

Enjoy your day!

Sneak Peek: Vintage CHRISTMAS: Kurt S. Adler, Holt Howard, Bottle Brush Trees

Here is a quick peek at what I've hauled
out of the attic for my first big holiday
listing of the year:

Lots of cozy comforts of home.
Names like Holt Howard,
Kurt S. Adler, and more.

I just love the kissing angels.
My Mom had a pair
she would put out
every year.

Then there are
other goodies:
Vintage, shiny,
and brite!

Not sure if I'll have
them ready before the
Columbus Day
holiday or after.

Our antique mall
is having collector's
visit from all over the
East Coast to Hershey,
Pennsylvania
for their annual
car show...
so I have been working
there and also
on some lake house
projects.

 Stay tuned...
Enjoy the day!

Looking Forward!

I know, I know.

It is FALL.

The leaves are changing.

Mums, pumpkins, and gourds are
EVERYWHERE.

But I'm looking forward...to

Christmas!

OH yes!

While these are
decorations I use
in my house...
I've actually been
saving up all of my
Christmas finds
for one listing!

Stay tuned while
I work on them...

It's beginning to look a lot
like Christmas...

Birds of A Pink Feather

The color pink.
Soft and feminine,
just like this vintage
feather fan.

How unique to link
up with others who
also have a passion
for pink.

I mean, how many
times have you seen
a linky post about
the color GREEN?

I've seen white and blue
but there is just something
about the color pink
for those of us
who enjoy it so.

We are like birds of
a feather, flocking together!

I was thrilled when
I found this vintage
PINK feather fan.

It has sold however,
before I could write
this post.

But still, a fun piece
to post about on

Enjoy your weekend...

French Wine Crate, French Books, Ephemera and New Arrivals!

Where do I begin
to show you our latest arrivals?

Usually I start with my most
favorite item...and that is
this awesome French wine crate:

Love!
Really forcing myself
not to decorate my office with it!

This lovely crown
brooch is already gone!
SOLD, just like that.

Still really like it though....
they are hard to come by.

This Jaeger & Co plate
was actually from
my Grandparent's collection.
They had run their own antiques
and books store in Florida.

Part of me really enjoys the
fact I have the "antique bug"
and have kept their passion
for vintage going.

Two styles of
for a nursery or
child's room.

So cute!

There is something about
this Indian doll that is
very appealing to me.
And well, she is wearing
pink... my favorite color!

A lovely marcasite and
aurora borealis rhinestone
brooch. This was a purchase
from my Mother in Law.

She is like one of my
"Pickers" so to speak!

I don't even think she
mind if I wrote that!
(Let's hope! Tee hee! Hi Mom!)

Any vintage book with
a very cool illustration
on the cover like
 Mary here, has my eye
immediately!

This pink "pearl" set would
look stunning with a denim shirt,
blouse, sweater or suit!

Maybe no one will buy it!
Because I like it.

Now when was the last
time you saw a seahorse
with "pearl" bubbles?

Me neither!

Imagine this silver plated
compote piled high
with ornaments, candy,
cookies, or even brooches!
Soaps in the bathroom!
Bangles and beads...

You name it...
I even like the idea of
using it to hold
your daily makeup items...

Also from my Mother in Law,
a beautiful bone china

She says the flowers
are snap dragons.

I wouldn't even know
what a snap dragon was!

This is why I have my
MIL to help me.

I went to school for radio
and TV. I can edit and produce
a video but succeed in a garden?

Forget it!

And another favorite of
mine this week is this

It comes with the original
owners METRO guide / map
with the Eiffel tower on the
front ....and her ticket!

Cool!

Go ahead, check out
the rest, here!

Gonna Hop to the Blog Shop

Gonna rock around the blogs tonight...

It's BLOG SHOP time!

Joining up with other Etsy, Ebay, and self run shops like mine. It is always fun to see what others are doing on the web and what they are selling.

Take a quick peek at some of my latest arrivals and then stroll on over to the other shops displaying their wares!
