Now That's Some Old Jewelry

Each week I receive a newsletter from Kovels.com

This was an article that caught my eye:

A Vienna man digging a pond in his yard found hundreds of pieces of jewelry, rings, pins, belt buckles, plates and more. Some of the gold and silver objects were set with pearls or coral. Austrian experts think the treasure is over 650 years old. The owner wants to loan some pieces to a museum, but so far does not want to sell any.

Now I know I can find some pretty cool stuff here in Pennsylvania but can you imagine digging up HUNDREDS of pieces of treasure?

Amazing find!

Just thought I would share it with you today!

Oh that's so exciting! I would love to find something like old jewelry - I've always been facinated with archeological digs, mostly native american stuff around here. Not so much the prehistoric stuff - that doesn't interest me. But treasure, that's different. I love to hear stories of divers finding old ships with gold pieces.

How awesome would that be?? We have metal detectors that (to my never end chigrin) have not used yet! I keep bugging my hubby too....UGH! What would you do if you found something like that while digging in your yard?

Jillian,
I wonder what he will do with hundreds of pieces of ancient jewelry? I hope they are put on display sometime so we can see pictures of more of them.
