Fun with my camera

We were all (and by all I mean Bebe, me, and our cats) outside the other day

excited about the beautiful weather.

(This photo was taken from inside the house as the turkey visited right around Easter)

But we also had another creature lurking around. A turkey! It is now the "elusive turkey". We had just stepped outside when I spotted her. By the time I ran back in to grab the camera, the cat had started stalking her and Bebe was running toward it.

Needless to say the turkey ran off in panic and I lost my shot.

But I decided to sit on a blanket and hang out with Bebe while she played in her sand box... and Mommy once again was a shutterbug.

This is what I do during the day... I'll bet you thought it was all antiques and glamour, eh?

As a Mommy I get to dream about castles in the sand, frolics on the beach with my family, and maybe, just maybe I'll get another chance to take a photo of that darn turkey.

Tonight my latest finds show I have very different tastes.

this is a malted milk bottle and a Reading and Erie (PA) railroad key....

back to vintage rhinestones!


But this sweet clover leaf pin dish caught my eye too...and why not?
It is marked Prussia.

I didn't photograph this vintage pin well... it actually has two layers like a cake

but you can't see that from the top view.

Pretty and cool! Then, the best part, I happened to notice it is marked "Coro."

Even better!

When I saw decorators and crafters alike using these vintage Flinch game cards in their creations I just loved the look!

I have four packs left of 30 cards each available after listing tonight.

Antique furniture and pretty tassels are a must ... here is a key just for fun to go with it!

old shabby Parliament candy tin is too cool!

So are these antique aqua glass bottles... I love the different uses for them.

One was from a Mrs. Winslow's Soothing Syrup (I can imagine how that tasted)

A vintage Kodak camera! Decorate your den or movie room with

old photography equipment. Love that look.

Like Pottery Barn or Ballard Designs for instance.

Then I go right to a frilly foofy girly pair of French framed prints.

See? My tastes are all over the place.

And then THIS was so charming. I looked on ebay and could not find another one like it.

An Orlando Cherry Brandy commemorative souvenir of Prince William's birth in 1982.

Now he's a DUKE! It is so petite and so sweet with the pink roses. What's not to love?

The "C" and "D" stand for you know who...Charles and Diana.

This was also charming.... get it. . . CHARMING?

Vintage foreign coin charm bracelet... the price is low enough

you could use it in craft projects too.

And these were a unique find.... a pair (hard to find two of them that match as a pair)

of child sized cobbler's wooden shoe forms.

Sterling Silver Perfume

Today I am highlighting a piece in my shop that has not been given enough attention. This is a very old perfume bottle, covered in an intricate swirl pattern, all in sterling silver.

Very interesting piece! I do think my photo has not done it justice. With the price of precious metals going up and up this is great deal.

Certainly deserving of today's Second Chance Tuesday.

Setting up my space

This past weekend I went to work on a space hubby and I share at a local antique mall. I've been doing this for eleven years.

Eleven years! That is a long time for me.

This is the fourth space I've rented. I started out with a few shelves up against a wall, then moved on to a larger space with two walls... met dear hubs and we shared another space together until we consolidated two booths into one, which is our current space.


The dress form is still there. I was hoping it would have sold by now. Maybe next time I go in! This is a particularly slow time of year for the mall. Has been for the entire eleven years I've been there. Spring brings people out into their yards, not to antique malls.

This is the display table I was painting outside while Dear Bebe ran around and created harmony ....I mean, chaos.

Proud however that neither one ended up with too much paint on us.

And I'm proud I have had my space for so many years.

I love setting out "new arrivals" and thinking of creative ways to display things. It can be fun and sometimes relaxing, depending on how much time there is to work on it. There were days I would just completely rearrange everything just to give it a fresh new look. Those days are gone however as we just don't have the energy to spend on it. Our energy is directed toward a different love. Dear Bebe! As it should be.

A time and a place for everything. For now we'll do what we can and if we have to close up the space for awhile, that's okay too. I still have BellaRosaAntiques.com to focus on which has turned out to be an amazing adventure.

Life is funny that way, you never know which way your path will take you. But if it has to do with antiques, I always enjoy the journey.

Just Listed: Duchess Salt Box, Chintz Teacup, Vintage Jewelry, Sweater Clip

This was my week for finding royalty. Between all of the talk about the Royal wedding, I think I was drawn to all things England. Seriously though, this Duchess Salt Co. box was my favorite find of the week! This thing is old! Back when salt came in a wooden box...from Boston.

Oops. Scratch that. While I was typing this and getting the link ready, it sold!

Maybe not from England but anything chintz reminds me of a good 'ol English tea

A place for a hanky or two? Love the pale pink...

These were interesting.

First time I've seen red colored pears or fruit hanging from a rhinestone earring.

And a pretty vintage necklace with aurora borealis rhinestones.

Second Chance Tuesday ~ US Navy Souvenir

Isn't this a great pillow cover? Vintage souvenir from the US Navy ... would look fabulous in a lake front or beach side cottage.

It is my selection for Second Chance Tuesday and can be found in my patriotic category.

I've been very busy ... this morning I checked out our local antiques fleamarket. There were so many great things but I had to stop buying, return home and put my "Mommy" hat on.

Then I ventured outside with Dear Bebe before lunch and painted a display table for my antique booth. Ever try and paint while asking a two year old not to touch anything????

Now That's Some Old Jewelry

This was an article that caught my eye:

A Vienna man digging a pond in his yard found hundreds of pieces of jewelry, rings, pins, belt buckles, plates and more. Some of the gold and silver objects were set with pearls or coral. Austrian experts think the treasure is over 650 years old. The owner wants to loan some pieces to a museum, but so far does not want to sell any.

Now I know I can find some pretty cool stuff here in Pennsylvania but can you imagine digging up HUNDREDS of pieces of treasure?

Amazing find!

Pink Cameo Brooch & A Royal Pink Wedding

Due to this morning's romantic and very ROYAL wedding of Kate and William (how many of you got up or stayed up late to watch it?).... I'm feeling a bit regal. (I have been talking with a highly accentuated British accent since this morning, just ask Bebe! She must think her Mummy has gone MAD...)

Here is my only pink find for the week... a pink cameo brooch available in my shop. It is a bit stuffy, no? Is the woman in the cameo wearing a big hat like the kind worn in London today? Wow... they were amazing!



But after seeing Kate's gown I admit, I was a little disappointed. It did indeed look similar to Princess Grace's, which is of course lovely. I guess I was well, hoping for more.


So for Pink Saturday I am showing some pink wedding gowns!!!! Fluffy & big!

And the lace over the white skirt is enchanting!

Finds of the Week: Brass Shell Purse, Tuck's Patriotic Postcard, Glass Shakers

Ran out quickly yesterday morning to a local antique flea... found these lovely baubles and beads... the old buttons are from Germany. Loved this trio all together so I bundled them into one price

A brass shell purse with an ornate clasp...crushed blue velvet lining.




Sweet and petite....this little French scene plate/tray is perfect for bon bons! (And who doesn't love a small treat on a pretty plate?)

I couldn't believe I found another little figurine like this one!

The old lock and key... the key fits and works!

Antique Paris postcards...nothing more needs to be said!

I saw this and thought it was great for crafting... or even wearing! A vintage wire wrap choker necklace.

I always thought cameos came in the same old color...coral background with ivory silhouette.

My favorite is the pink of course!

A unique piece. It can be used as a pendant or as a brooch.

Glass shakers... just right for crafter's glitter

I was in "Keep this one" mode but finally gave it to the shop!

Some days I'd like to keep it all...

A trio of servers for the table. Pickle fork, master butter and a petite jelly spoon

Antique valentines are always a favorite!

So are violets. They have sprung up everywhere !

Their presence is so refreshing after a long winter.
