Vintage Finds of the Week #16

Last weekend was a whirlwind Estate Sale. It started out terribly for me.

Some people just take one look at me and get upset. Really, they do!

I arrived to the sale later than normal due to a 6 1/2 year old trailing along. The Hubs had already gone REALLY early to get a number for us.

At least, that's what I thought was the plan.

I get in line, which really wasn't a line, it was a group.

This lady starts harassing me about why I haven't picked a number up yet.

Angry she was! After I tell her it's because of the six year old she snarls... "I'll just have to bring all of MY family members next time!"

Finally I left. Bebe and I were in the car, I put my glasses down, and I was about to start the engine.

The Hubs comes rushing over to my car and says "It's OK! You're allowed to bring a person in."

So, I get out and proceed to get in line, and then we are being called into the house. (We were #6.) It was then I realized I had forgotten my glasses in the car.

It was crowded. You had to make your way around some of the rooms in a circle because there were things all along the perimeter as well as in the middle. Once more people were let in, you were kind of stuck where you were.

Below are my finds of the week, including other sales. I didn't do too badly with a 6 year old and no glasses!

I found this flow blue platter which isn't gigantic or heavy so it was easy to carry around.

My Hubby couldn't leave without
this piece so into the pile it went.

Here we have some ironstone,
white pottery, kid gloves,
a 1st Holy Communion box with
trinkets and prayer beads.

The teapot and the gloves
were from a different sale,
hand picked by the Hubs.
He's pretty good, eh?

A large wooden spool and some
aqua glass medicine bottles.

The hubs again, did well with this two drawer
sewing machine piece. And not very easy to see,
but there is a McCoy teapot to the left.

(The Roseville vase behind it is mine,
on display. Kinda got mixed in by accident!)

I'm starting to gather quite a bit of PYREX,
I might bring them to an antique show
in September and see how they do there.

We thought the glass and aluminum egg coddlers
were interesting. The man at the estate sale wrote
down "Cobblers" on the receipt. I'm thinking they
are egg coddlers though. Will look them
up when I get a chance. Which could
also be in September when school starts!

There is also a cookbook and an
aluminum shaker in great condition,
no dents!

I grabbed this on the second day,
which was of course, 1/2 off day!
They had two but the other
was gone by the second day.

Still trying to figure out what
it is. Anyone? It's not that
sturdy so it can't be a shoe holder.

and in my last Let's Talk Vintage post,
I mentioned I found something from
Paris, France. Well, I am always searching
for the Eiffel Tower postcard.
Whenever I get them, they sell out
quickly, so I was happy to find another.
I selected some other scenes from
Paris to go along with it.

And while I was looking for postcards
I found these 4 Tucks cards with
George Washington scenes.
While they were not cheap,
I think they were a good buy.

Raphael Tuck postcards
(made for her Majesty, the Queen!)
are quite desirable and sought after
by avid collectors. These were a
win/win because they are patriotic
and depict our first president.

And they are for my own personal
collection. A birthday present to me!

Hope you enjoyed a sneak
peek into my latest finds...
I'll be back with some pinky
things later on!

Wow, people at estate sales can get vicious! Glad you found some things, and I have no idea what that flower thingy is - for scarves maybe?
