Welcome to Let's Talk Vintage!
This week I am sharing about the fun time we had as judges for the boat parade on the lake where we have a lake house.
Because we were the winners last year with our NYC skyline and taxi, we were able to pick the theme for this year. We chose "Spirit of 76." When we announced the theme last year we didn't realize that July 4th would actually fall on the day of the boat parade. What an extra special touch!
There were all kinds of patriotic colors and flags everywhere.
A wonderful, impromptu moment happened too.
One of the boats started playing the "Star Spangled Banner"
and everyone started singing along. Many placed their hands over their hearts. The fact that it was July 4th, 239 years after we declared independence, made it all the more special.
We even had some adoring fans on the "sidelines!"
We loved so many but could only pick one winner.
We even saw Ben Franklin!
Our choice was none other than Betsy Ross herself!
Loved how they placed a rocking chair right on the front
of the boat!
We had such a great time ... after the parade was over
we all went to the "post parade" barbecue that has been happening there since 1991.
We announced the winners and handed out some vintage "Spirit of 76" prizes
Well, another year is behind us... but we look forward to finding out next year's theme.
Proud to become part of the tradition!
