Shake, Rattle, & Roll

The earth is an amazing thing. Yesterday I was completely taken off guard when the earthquake rumbled up and down the East Coast.

Guess what I was in the middle of doing? Taking pictures of my latest finds for the shop!
I can't even remember now why I was moving from my "studio" toward the staircase when I heard a VERY loud rumbling.

It was a gorgeous day yesterday (as well as today) so I had all the windows and doors open.

I thought the noise was some loud trucks rumbling by on the highway nearby.

But then I heard my LuRay teacups shaking and rattling. My first thought was EARTHQUAKE?
Then I looked for Bebe and saw her playing under the table. She was safe so I moved down the hallway toward my kitchen. I looked at my teacup stand holding my LuRay Pastels cups.... it was still rattling back and forth. I had to reach out and put my hand on it to stop the motion.

This was definitely an earthquake (or something), I thought. Then my phone rang and it was my Mother. "WE JUST HAD AN EARTHQUAKE!" Well this confirmed everything. I knew it was something big if we both felt it in two different states!

Now I know all of my bloggy pals out on the West Coast are laughing about now. We're just not used to this kind of thing.

It sure did make the afternoon interesting.

Anyway, all of this to mention that I never finished taking my photos!

Hopefully tomorrow evening I will be back on track, rolling along as usual!

I'm so anticipating this here in the Bay Area. But, like Scarlett, I'll think about THAT tomorrow! :-)

We are still totally discombobulated here in CA! Nothing feels much like home except when I come to your site and see your sweet finds. I spent each and every Friday (sometimes Saturday) in Olde Winter Park, FL estate/garage "sailing" and then selling on eBay. I miss it so much! In the late '90s there was still much mid-century modern from the '60s navy wives and way further back than that from the retirees. Waxing nostalgic 'cuz I read down the page and saw your precious treasures.

I don't remember hearing a noise - but sure felt the shaing!

Jillian,
Some wag in California said, "That's how we stir our coffee in the morning!" I thought that was pretty funny and got a good laugh out of it. It was very weird, though, to feel my whole house moving to and fro and I was on the second floor!

Oh I can relate! A couple of years ago we had one here in the Midwest and it woke us up in the middle of the night and I screamed at my husband.."run down and hold up the hutch!" he thought I was crazy and the tremor was done by the time I said it!!

Yes, crazy, wasn't it? I thought I was having a dizzy spell - was cleaning the sink in my bathroom when I felt it - looked up into the mirror and saw all my necklaces on my jewelry frame on the wall swinging back and forth. I turned around and had to catch myself for the house shaking. Now the hurricane is on its way. Too much for one week - Lord, keep us!
Joy!
