I've been inspired by pink for a long time now and I'm sure the first things that inspired me were ballerina costumes and toe shoes. But now that I'm a Mommy I'm often inspired by my little sweetpea Bebe's toys and room decor.
But I can't always be a Mommy, I need inspiration from other things. Which is why I love to go antiquing.
Back in 1992 I was inspired to start collecting pastel colored dinnerware called LuRay and really haven't stopped. Two to three years earlier I was in college and browsing a Salvation Army looking for something different for my everyday dishes. After seeing a stack of PINK dishes I was convinced this was it for me. It spurred me on to go to the library to research what type of dishes they were. I don't know what the name was stamped on the bottom, but that day I found a pretty set in a book about vintage dinnerware. Now, 19 years later I see this LuRay Pastels collection in my kitchen cabinets and it cheers me, especially in the winter months.
What's your pink inspiration?
Today I'll be linking up with PINK SATURDAY over on Beverly's blog, How Sweet the Sound. (I'm currently having problems clicking on links and uploading but hopefully this problem will be resolved soon. We are still trying to finish the computer debacle that happened on Christmas Day. All this to just say I can't upload the Pink Saturday logo right now.)
Jillian,
ReplyDeleteI'm still lovin' LuRay and I know what you mean about liking it even more in the winter. Something about it just cheers me up too!
I'm doing a flea market tomorrow so I hope we don't get too much snow. UGH!
Love,
~Ms.Daisymau
They look lovely in your cabinet, chick!

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful share. All of these beautiful shades of pastel softness. How gorgeous they look in your china cabinet. I love the pinks, but those blues are so pretty as well.
I am SO in love with the BIG blue mixing bowl on the top shelf. I love it.
Thank you for sharing with me this evening. I have so enjoyed my visit. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

You have a beautiful collection, but I wish I hadn't seen it! It reminds me of the big stack of LuRay saucers that I left behind at a garage sale last summer. Probably a dozen of them for $2. I haven't been able to forget them! When will I ever learn?!
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday!
Carol
I loved seeing your very sweet dish collection - what a fun project for you over the years - and what fun family memories you've all enjoyed as you've eaten on those dishes.
ReplyDeleteHope your computer woes have ended. I've been having a bunch on mine while upgrading so you have my total sympathy.
Happy Pink Saturday.

All of your dishes just look so pretty in the cabinet! Happy PS!
ReplyDeleteLove all of your LuRay... I've got just a couple of pieces.
ReplyDeleteMost of my pink is in my sewing room. Living with 2 men means not a lot of pink around the rest of the house... so I started my girly room of pink, white and aqua. No boys allowed ;)
