Easter Traditions

Antiques and traditions go hand in hand together. We had a few tradtions in my family... probably not much different than the rest.

We dyed our eggs using the PAAS Easter egg dying kit. I loved the smell of the vinegar and watching the tablet dissolve in the cup! I still remember the white Corelle cups we used.

One year my Mother broke tradition and just she and I dyed eggs using natural flowers found in the backyard. (My Sister must have been in college by then?) This was one of my favorite experiments! I think we used dandelions. It left such a sweet impression on the egg and just a hint of yellow.

Just for kicks, here is a photo of my Sister and I when we were just tiny, tiny, tiny! Guess which one is me?????

Other traditions include Easter baskets filled with fun goodies. One year I remember in particular Mom went to a specialized candy store and purchased homemade candy instead of the store bought stuff. She included a little porcelain egg trinket box which we adored for years. Another memorable year!

On Easter Sunday we would wear our new Easter dresses or skirts, new spring shoes and all head to church for Easter service. Afterwards we always went for Easter dinner at my paternal Grandmother's house. These are the two traditions I miss the most.

Now that I have my own family we can start our own. It is going to be so much fun now that Dear Bebe is growing up! Saturday we're having our first Easter egg hunt with another toddler and his parents. Should be fun! Pictures and a post to follow soon.

I'd love to hear about your family traditions this time of year....
