Sneak Peek at Our Latest Finds

In between the raindrops and playing
toddler games...
Dear Hubby and I managed to
go antique hunting for the shop!

Luckily for us it was sunny and nice over
the weekend.
Not so much today!
So let's take a look at some of the
treasures we found:

These are absolutely adorable.
Miniature versions of the larger adult sets
for the kitchen.
I'm not sure how I'm going to sell them yet as
there are four lids missing.
Do I sell the whole set as is?
Or sell only the pieces with lids...
To be determined!

While filling my antique booth with the
larger items we found I spotted
this sweet hankie and a wax
ornament.

And a few of these lovely pink lustre teacups and saucers!
Dear Hubby found this vintage Ohio Art watering can.
I am tempted to keep it for the kids room
at the lake house.
What would you do?

And along with the green canister
set came this sweet other set.
I love how the "CLOVES" is on upside down.
Does this make it more valuable?

You know I can't resist roses...
how could I when I saw them in this lovely
vintage needlepoint wall hanging?
I love how it is in a circular shape.

More on what we found...
when I list my items
(hopefully tomorrow)
this is just a sneak peek!

Mamma Mia

Thinking of my Mother this weekend...

 My support through the years...
from dance classes to college days.

 To big, special, life changing
 days like this....
\
and to moments like this when
she became a Gramma....

 We love you, Mom!
Happy Mother's Day.

Lake House Here We Come

If you've been following my blog recently then you'll know we've been looking for a lake house.

For a LONG TIME.

We finally found one!
If all goes as planned,
it will be ours soon.

To be honest? This is not my idea of a dream house.
Cute and campy, yes.
Dreamy?
No.
It pales in comparison to the one we didn't buy.

But it has potential!
We can make it into our little escape...
our dream lake house !
And the owners are leaving me sweet little things
like this lovely end table/cabinet.
I see a lot of paint in my future.

Like in this shocking aqua room with the red floor...

and believe it or not, there is another aqua room
and red floor across the hall.
The telescope is pretty cool ...but this did not
come with the house.

Aqua was a big thing around here.

When visiting the house for the first time, this was all snow covered.
The realtor said there was a "sandy beach" under the snow.
The reality?
Not so much.
But nothing a truck load of sand can't fix.

And I'm certainly not complaining.
Because this my friends,
is the view from the deck.

Ahhhhhhh.....
I'll be blogging about our makeovers, re-dos, and
rennovations over the next several months.
Probably over the next several SEASONS.

Won't you come along on the journey with me?
Should be an interesting summer!

Tick Tock Looking at Antique Clocks

All work and no play makes
Jillian a dull girl.

That's why I insist on having
"family days" every few weeks
and we take a little side trip.

This week we took a tour of
a clock museum.

Since we love antiques this was right up our alley.
Look at this beautiful painted rotunda or dome.

Then inside the exibit doors we entered...

First up...early moments of time in our history.
What's this? A piece of Stonehenge?
Who knew, this close to home!
(great job on the replica!)

And of course, a sun dial!
Who needs a wristwatch
when you can look at the sun...

Then over time man got a little
more creative with the sandglass.
We call them hourglasses.
Moving on...

Fast forward to antique clocks of Europe

And not just a clock but a
GRAND STATUARY CLOCK

 From none other than PARIS

Dear hubby snapped a picture of me
reading up on American Clocks

Look at this one.
I love the flag motif.
This is the real thing...
and oldie but goodie.
Not the kind you find
at Hobby Lobby!

And we caught Bebe checking out some of
the more modern clocks
with famous characters on them.

From very old to modern clocks
and a few in between, we enjoyed

our trip to the clock museum!

From Letter Openers to Longaberger: New Arrivals Are Here!

We were very fortunate this week to stumble across some
unique and collectible pieces.
Dear Hubs found this stunning silver
crown letter opener.
It is one of my favorites this week!
made in France.

The young woman I purchased this sweet rose
pitcher from said it was "extremely old."
I just thought it was extremely charming!

I also admired these blue satin glass perfume bottles
with their crown toppers.
The color is just stunning!

I think the appeal to these ivy vases is the fact I found
them in a PAIR and how great they
would look on either end of a white fireplace mantel.

Also for the mantel: \

For your breakfast table a set of
Yes, I actually found the
name of the pattern.
This is work, people.
I kid. This is a lot of fun!

A handpainted Nippon

Sweet and petite "baby brownie"

Also one of my favorites for the week:
an Oneida silver elongated
vanity or perfume tray.
Or on your dining room sideboard
with wine glasses.
You decide.
Either way, so elegant!
And at this price, you can't afford
not to get it.

Forty plus letters and envelopes.

Tiny wooden shoe form with a stack
of petite antique books.

And yes, I meant it when I said it,
"vintage" 1989.

There are a few other finds not shown
you can see them here.

Enjoy the day!
